Hacettepe University, Faculty of Medicine offers (MD-PhD)common program by the application of Higher Education Council’s act 15273 on July 15, 2003. This program started to be performed in 2003-2004 academic year. This program is a special one which basic and clinical sciences graduate program is integrated to standard education. The outstanding students are awarded medical doctor and doctor of philosophy degrees upon their graduation from this institution.

Basic Targets of Program:

• The aim of the program is to train individuals by means of independent research activities and providing this through basic and clinical academic atmosphere. This will ensure the individuals to become scientists.
• To provide the students scientific research experience being familiar with clinical sciences. The program admits students those who attend medical school. The program is introduced under the supervision of MD-PhD Education Coordinator to Phase II medical students.

The students previous academic success, proficiency in a foreign language and their expectations is regarded in evaluation. The program’s first two years (Phase III, IV) gives lectures covering core tendency courses. The students takes the courses for credit under the supervision of their advisors. Upon successful completion of two year program, the students are admitted to PhD program by their choice of core programs as a full-time student.
